Dear Primos, family, and friends:
The October issues has lots of information that can be helpful in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. There is a steadily increasing interest in our heritage, and we Latinos are leading the race, gathering and sharing from many perspectives.
Pointing out some happenings: Dr. Lino Garcia and Jose Antonio Lopez have formed THE, Tejano Heritage Effort, with the mission to respond to misinformation, newspapers, magazines, online media, TV, etc. Some examples of their effort is included under the Witness column.
Wanda Garcia moves forward with her goal to preserve and renovate her Dad, Dr. Hector P. Garcia's clinic in Corpus Christi . . with "Save the Building". Photos of its present condition are included in the United States column. http://blog.preservationnation.org/2011/09/27/the-quest-to-save-a-texas-civil-rights-treasure/
Featured is the amazing library of the late Col. Ernesto Montemayor, and Dr. Hector P. Garcia clinic in Corpus Christi, TX. Hopefully, a home will be found for the collection.
Thank you for your interest in our Latino heritage.
Warm regards, Mimi
